There is lots to do in beautiful Walhalla. Some of our local attractions include:

  • The Walhalla Cricket Ground perched on a hilltop above the town.

  • The Walhalla Goldfields Railway. Take a scenic train ride through Stringers Creek Gorge.

  • The Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine. Take a tour of the mine and learn the history of gold mining.

  • The Walhalla Cemetery. A unique cemetery with 1300 known burials. The headstones tell the story of the hardship experienced by early residents seeking to find their fortune in gold.

  • The Bank Rotunda built in 1896. This is a focal point of the town which marks the start of the Australian Alps Walking Track.

  • The Post Office Museum. This is the last remaining government building in Walhalla built in 1886.

  • Bird watching. You will see a variety of native birds in town.

  • Aberfeldy Four Wheel Drive Track. Take a drive along a unique track through the bush. The landscape is beautiful and there are historic sights along the way.

There are many walks to do around the area including the Tramline Walkway above the town and the walk to Poverty Point Bridge.
